THE OMUSATIZATION OF NAMIBIANGOVERNMENT INSTITUTIONS: IS OMUSATI CLIQUE REAL OR IMAGINED?
The objective of this article is to try and provide an insight into the Omusatization of Namibian government institutions by a clique within the ruling SWAPO Party. The word “Omusati” means Mopani Tree which is widely prevalent in much of the north western parts of Namibia covering the areas of Kaokoland (Kunene), Ongandjera, Uukologhadhi, Uukwaludhi, Ombalantu, Uukwaambi and Okalongo (till they were instigated to secede from Ohangwena). All these (except Kaokoland which is part of Kunene) different tribal areas were combined to form one region now called Omusati Region.
