7th January 2010

The RDP has taken note of the contents of SWAPO party’s press conference at the SWAPO headquarters on Wednesday 6th January, 2010.
The purpose of the said conference in our view is to indirectly incite the public to revolt against the High Court for having instructed the ECN to give the opposition parties access to some of the election materials. It is therefore no wonder that it (SWAPO party) is condemning the press release issued by the High Court on the contents of opposition parties submission to the High Court, regarding their findings on some of the election materials as apparently adding more confusion as it could allegedly be interpreted that the high court has declared the elections as null and void.

We in the RDP are not going to comment on anything with which the honorable High Court is seized with. This to us, will not only pre-empt the High Courts judgment but will border on a contempt of court which we will not like to be part of like SWAPO party and in particular the Minister of Justice as was clearly stated in the Namibian Sun on 31st December 2009.

Regarding the insults, blackmailing, character assassinations and all the lies about us, we in the RDP have passed that stage. Thus we cannot allow ourselves to stoop that low and respond to the lies. In fact when we defeated the then South African colonialists and their agents in 1989, we thought the phenomenon of insulting, blackmailing, and telling lies would have been buried a million feet under the ground not to resurface again. We never anticipated that one of the Namibian political parties could become a beneficiary of the then South African left over’s. However, now that SWAPO party has inherited this phenomenon, we leave it to them and wish them all the success in achieving whatever they think they will accomplish in this dirty politicking.

We know that the RDP today is the only Namibian political party with a national identity and is truly united. What SWAPO party also should know is that we are not here at their mercy. We are here at the will of the Namibian people. Equally SWAPO party should know that gone forever are the days of Idi Amin of Uganda, Mabuto Seseseko of DRC then Zaire and Bokassa of the Central African Republic. Absolute dictatorship will never have a place in Namibia. As a party we have maintained peace despite continuous provocation and have and will continue to obey and respect the rule of law.
